Lucky 7: Momo's Birthday

i'm going to post this no matter how late i have to stay up because i have so much other work to catch up on before momo and i leave for cali this weekend, and i don't want to have any leftovers when i get back.  i've got new stuff i need to put out for summer so...  a bunch of random shots from Momo's Birthday weekend

Party!
every year i get suckered into inviting his entire class.  this year was not so.  i've gone from inviting 80 friends and family at his First Birthday to a perfect little group of kids he has made friends with this year.  he thrives in small groups.  i need to accept this, not fight it.  he thrived at his party whereas he totally wanted to leave within 30 minutes of the party we attended the next day with his entire class.  he had a FANTASTIC time.  he was so happy.  he was so comfortable.  I WAS SO HAPPY.

Lyndsay was so kind as to make this stunner of a cake for Momo
the blast of colours was absolutely perfect!  the kids went wild and took turns asking kevin over if they could have an egg or a malt ball or a big piece, etc...

you can't really tell but it was a breezy day so we didn't bother lighting candles
we sang happy birthday and Dev here added a little silly ditty that sent Momo into peels of laughter

as usual, it felt horrible to cut one of Lyndsay's creations, but it had to be done

LOLZ
moses got distracted talking to someone while feeding Malcolm
and basically just rolled it all over Malcolm's face

so happy

AIRPLANE

total utter happiness

seven
i'm so glad i am on on overdrive right now because i cried a bunch of times over the weekend over this boy and if i had time right now, i'd go into all of it.  you're welcome mc.

so happy to sleep in my bed to wake up with me on his birthday

his actual birthday was the chillest of the chill as he requested
i put a few streamers in the dining room along with a tablecloth, confetti and a card
it was pretty special to hear him read my card aloud
not sharing

kevin's gift ended up being the bottom half of a giant Death Star
he is full on into Star Wars although he doesn't quite know all the terms and names
i know nothing, but i have a feeling i will learn things anyway...

i sat with him for the first while trying to figure it out and failed badly
kevin took over and did a perfect job as always including a doorway that flipped
180 degrees to open and close
nerdtown

i don't know what the heck this is and i can't remember the name
apparently this is something in Star Wars that Momo built with his own Lego

dude detaches from the thingy-thing
pretty cool without being a Star Wars thing
i'm going to get so much hate from knowing nothing...

upon his request i made a giant pot of mac'n'cheese from scratch
and these other spicy pork + kale noodle soup for dinner

we spent the afternoon playing badminton + soccer in the yard
before heading to the park for a while where we ran into a small group
of kids from school and the kids all had a great time together

jenice and her family were in town visiting family and dropped by on their way out

i pulled him out of bed at 10:30pm to get a few photos together
kevin jumped in while i did a few test shots for lighting

gweilo
